Daraa rebels press to capture regime stronghold in Old City
Syrian rebels on Wednesday extended its ground bombing on al-Manshiya district, the last stronghold of regime army in southern Daraa province.

The district is almost under rebel control after rapid advance this week, Just Sajna area is still out of rebels control where heavy clashes are underway
, rebel military commander said.. 

Al-Bonyan al-Marsous Operation Room, in statement, said rebels had controlled 90 blocks and 4 checkpoints in the regime’s last stronghold in the Old City of Daraa. 

Russian and regime warplanes carried out 23 raids while the helicopters dropped more than 34 barrel bombs on Daraa province, local activists said Wednesday.

Al-Manshiya neighborhood, the regime’s largest barrack in Daraa  and which is a home for 20,000 people, has turned into battleground for rebels and regime forces for the last three months.

At least 160 regime troops were killed and 500 more were wounded since the fight erupted early February in al-Manshiya, rebels said.

The rebel groups that participate in the battles, including Haya’t Tahrir al-Sham, led by former al-Qadea offshoot -formerly known as the Nusra Front- and Ahrar al-Sham.
