Russia distributes aid in Qardaha, Assad's hometown

 The Russian forces in the airport of Hmeymim in Qardaha, Assad’s hometown have distributed food rations and medical aid in town and countryside to families of the dead members of the army and intelligence forces added to Shabiha and families in need.

The Russian military forces have also founded a medical centre in Qardaha countryside to treat patients free of charge, according to regime loyal websites.

Syriandise, a Regime-loyal websites had few days ago quoted that Russians brought food and medical aid via planes from the Hmeymim airport and sometimes by warships, indicating that Russia is very concerned about the Syrian people and is already planning to help.

Other observers pointed out that the Russians are trying to tempt people of Latakia, especially the area of Qardaha, because they plan for a long-term stay and trying to avoid any future inconvenience. However, it has been noticed that most of food and medical goods are near expiry, indicating that they could have been as a “left-over” goods and the Russians in Syria do ntot need them.

The Russian military intervention in Syria began September 2015 after an official request by the Syrian regime for military help against rebels. The intervention initially consisted of air strikes targeted the north-western Syria, against the Syrian armed opposition.

Russia′s air force took active part in the Syrian regime’s offensive against Aleppo that began in the Autumn 2016.

Russian forces may remain in Syria indefinitely, the Kremlin indicated in the end of September 2016.

It is estimated that Russian military campaign has killed more than 4000 civilians since it began 18 months ago.

The Kremlin initially ruled out sending ground troops, however, evidence suggests special forces, artillery, and tank units have also been deployed and taken part in action in Syria. Russia has not publicised the number of troops it has deployed to Syria.
