The PKK-affiliated Syria Democratic Forces (SDF) renewed attempts to progress in the city of al-Tabqa to the northwest of al-Raqqa, taking control of villages after heavy clashes with ISIS terrorists.
Activists said that heavy fighting took place on Thursday (April 20) near the al-Alam roundabout and the highway near al-Tabqa amid heavy airstrikes carried out by US-led coalition to support the SDF.
The SDF took control of 6 villages following the clashes; al-Mazraa al-Heqomiyya, Riyal, Qabsh Gharbi, Khalwa Ebade, al-Hafeer and Hattah in al-Raqqa northern countryside, according to activists.
These military developments come within phase IV of what the SDF calls (Ghadab al-Furat Offensive), the Wrath of the Euphrates offensive.
The offensive aims at taking control of Raqqa northern countryside and ending the presence of ISIS there
