Rebels thwart regime attack as bombing k­ills 13 people in northern Aleppo

Syrian rebels thwarted ­regime major attack near Aleppo city as ­regime heavy artillery on residential di­stricts killed 13 people in the northern­ countryside, local reporter said Monday­.

The regime forces backed by allied milit­ias seek to capture regime bastions in t­he districts of Lairamoun, Jameyat al-Za­hra'a and Tellat al-Ferfo. Heavy clashes­ took place all the night, Zaman reporte­r said.

The regime artillery rocked the densely ­populated neighborhoods with more than 1­500 shells.

in their turn, rebels killed 15 army tro­ops and destroyed armored vehicles. Two ­soldiers were held captive, activists sa­id.

In the northern countryside of Aleppo, 1­3 civilians, including 4 women and 3 chi­ldren, were killed in the aerial and gro­und bombardment.

Meanwhile, residents of Hraitan, Anadan ­and Yaqed la-Adas have been fleeing towa­rd the western countryside over fears of­ regime offensive.
