Turkey shelled on Monday (May 1) the PKK-affiliated Syria Democratic Forces’ (SDF) positions in Aleppo northern countryside’s Azaz.
"Turkish artillery shelled the positions of SDF in Ein Daqneh and Marenaz near the city of Azaz in Aleppo northern countryside after this Kurdish militia raised the Assad regime’s flag on top of those areas," Orient News correspondent Khalid Abo al-Majed said.
These developments came after the US-led coalition forces said they were patrolling the Turkey-Syria border in the wake of Turkey’s counter-terrorism operation in Iraq and Syria, according to US Central Command’s (CENTCOM) statement on Saturday.
"Coalition forces are conducting joint patrols along the northeastern Syria-Turkey border to assess reports from both the SDF and Turkey regarding skirmishes and cross-border fires between their respective security forces," the statement said, referring to US-allied SDF.
The US cooperates with SDF ranks, which Ankara designates the Syrian wing of the terrorist group of PKK.
The SDF has not shown any hostile act towards Assad terrorists and has also handed over tens of villages to the Assad regime in Aleppo’s Manbij. These steps have proved that Assad regime and SDF are allies against the Syrian people, and not enemies, the Syrian opposition military expert Ahmad al-Hammada has told Orient Net commenting on the Turkish shelling.
