6 civilians killed in airstrikes on Homs

The Syrian regime and the U.S.-led airstrikes have killed 6 civilians in central Homs province on Friday as fighting escalates against the Islamic State in territory near the Syrian desert, local activists said.

Three people were killed by regime strikes in the northern countryside of Homs while three women were killed in the U.S. strikes on n al-Sukhna town in the eastern countryside.

The northern countryside of the central province is included in Astana’s de-escalation zones, such a deal never been respected by the regime army, activists say.

Meanwhile, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said U.S.-led coalition air strikes have killed 472 civilians over the past month.

The Observatory said the period between May 23 and June 23 saw the highest civilian death toll in coalition raids for a single month since they began on September 23, 2014.

Another 250 civilians, including 53 children, were killed in Raqa province, where US-backed forces are trying to oust ISIS militants from their bastion Raqqa city.

According to the AFP,  the new deaths brought the overall civilian toll from the coalition's campaign to 1,953, including 456 children and 333 women.

The previous deadliest 30-day period was between April 23 and May 23 this year that cost 225 civilian lives
