ISIS fighters hit regime helicopter in Deir Ezzor, pilot unharmed
A Syrian military pilot succeeded to land safely after his helicopter was targeted by the Islamic State rockets in eastern Deir Ezzor province, sources said Wednesday.

Colonel Issa Ezzeddin landed in Qamishli airport despite damage in his fighter helicopter.

The army and Russian planes had been waging a relentless bombing campaign on ISIS-held areas, taking a race with US-backed Kurdish forces to capture territory from the embattled ISIS in Raqqa, Deir ezzor and along the borderline with Iraq.

U.S. forces said on Tuesday they had shot down an armed "pro-Syrian regime" drone near the garrison. A Western intelligence source identified the drone as Iranian.

The day before, U.S. forces were also downed any fighter jet near the Iraqi border.
