Residents of Maarrat al-Numan in northern Idlib province on Friday went to streets, for the third time, protesting the mounting abuses of Tahrir al-Sham, the power Islamist alliance that led by Jaish Fateh al-Sham, the former al-Qaeda branch in Syria, local reporter said.
The third protest in two weeks followed tensions escalated when Tahrir al-Sham group stormed Free Syrian Army positions in Maarrat al-Nu’man, leaving several people killed and wounded, residents told Ammar Johmani.
Residents of the key town in northern Syria have stressed in their signs and banners on the revolution’s principles in dignity and freedom, saying they are against autocracy and extremism.
Protesters have also demanded tahrir al-Sham to give back weapons to Division 13, moderate rebel group operating in the Free Syrian Army.
Fighters of the former al-Qaeda affiliated branch, formerly known as the Nusra Front, has seized control of the bastions of Division 13 a day after the killing the military commander of Tahrir al-Sham in Maarrat al-Nu’man.
Last week, Tahrir al-Sham had also seized base of Faylaq al-Sham in al-Rakaya village in the southern countryside of Idlib
