At least four people were killed and another seven injured Thursday in a car bomb attack in Syria’s northern city, a pro-opposition Syrian civil defense official said.
The incident took place when a car bomb went off near a school in Azaz city, Haytham Jaber, the Syrian civil defense official, told Anadolu Agency.
The death toll is feared to rise as some of the injured persons are in critical condition.
Vehicles near the site of the incident caught fire, while nearby buildings were also damaged as a result of the blast.
Syria has remained locked in a vicious civil war since early 2011, when the Assad regime cracked down on pro-democracy protests with unexpected ferocity.
Several rounds of subsequent peace talks -- in both Geneva and Kazakh capital Astana -- have failed to end the conflict, in which hundreds of thousands of Syrian civilians are believed to have been killed to date
