Russia on
Tuesday has fortified the Assad regime with new de-escalation zone
agreement at the eastern gate of the capital, a deal makes most of
surrounding districts of Damascus non-war areas.
Eastern
Qalamoun that lies on the enclaves of Syria's desert, also known as
Badia, has joined the de-escalation zone agreements, such a good news as
regime forces and allied militias succeeded to break ISIS siege on Deir
al-Zor city on Tuesday.
Ammar Johmani reporter said the Assad regime was not satisfied with the deal in Eastern Qalamoun.
Last
week, regime forces disturbed Russia’s efforts to sign the agreement,
preventing the the Russian delegation from entering the rebel-held
region.
Rebels
have accused the regime of undermining the deal over its own efforts to
reach reconciliation agreement dismantling rebels from their power
whereas the de-escalation zone deals show rebels as powerful
counterparts to Assad, according to the local activists.
A
military source told Zaman al-Wasl that representatives of the Martyr
Ahmed al-Abdu forces, Jaish al-Islam, al-Rahman Legion had met with a
senior Russian officer and American officers and sealed the deal.
The newly-agreed zone includes Ruhaiba, Jayroud, al-Nasiriyah and al-Dumayr.
In
relevant development, U.S. army through its joint task command in
Jordan has demanded allied rebel groups fighting regime forces in Syrian
desert to withdraw to Jordan, saying this move will serve the
de-escalation zone agreement as their defeat is inevitable.
In
an audio message, the U.S. army asked Ahmed Abdo Martyrs Forces and
Osoud al-Sharqiya to enter the Jordanian territories within 48 hours as
regime forces and allied Shiite militias make rapid advances in the
desert, also known as Badia.
The
Joint Operation Room, based in Amman, that leads rebel factions in
southern Syria, said it seek to me another ceasefire deal with the Assad
regime.
The
key rebel groups in Badia said last week that regional and
International powers are pressing on them to end fight and to launch
attacks on ISIS instead.
Ahmed
Abdo Martyrs Forces and Osoud al-Sharqiya urged fellow rebel factions
to launch attacks on regime forces in Qalamoun and Daraa to lessen the
offensive in Badia as the regional plan is to strengthen Assad amid
reports of 'positive' approaches between Amman and Damascus.
Ahmed
Abdo Martyrs Forces said the ultimate goal of the Assad army's push in
al-Badia was to link its forces with Iraq's militias on the other side
of the border.
The
Damascus-Baghdad highway was a major weapons supply route for Iranian
weapons into Syria until ISIS seized large territory along the
Iraqi-Syrian border, according to regional intelligence sources.
Since
May, the regime army has been moving large numbers of troops to Badia
region on the country's border with Iraq and Jordan.
