Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov
stressed that the Syrian people are the only ones who will
decide Syria’s future, underlining the need not to interfere
in the work of the committee of discussing constitution.
Lavrov said in a press conference with his his Nepalese
counterpart Pradeep Kumar Gyawali in Moscow on Monday
that a political solution to the crisis in Syria should be
found in accordance with UN resolution No. 2254, which
confirms that Syrians alone will decide their country’s
future.
The Russian Diplomat emphasized the rejection of any
attempts to interfere in the work of the committee of
discussing constitution, noting that some countries tried for
nine months to block the efforts of the United Nations to
launch the work of the committee and that the threats to
foil it still exist.
Lavrov pointed out that these attempts contradict UN
resolution No. 2254 and the United Nations should
guarantee apply it.
