Moscow, SANA- Russia on Thursday said it is using “high-precision weapons” to disable Ukrainian air defense systems.
“Military infrastructure, air defense systems, military airports and air force in Ukraine were disabled with high-precision weapons,” Russian Defense Ministry said in a written statement.
It also added that the “special military operation in Donbas in eastern Ukraine did not pose a threat to the civilians in the country.”
Ukrainian media reported that powerful explosions resounded this morning at military sites in the cities of Kiev, Odessa and Kharkiv.
Earlier on Thursday, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a “special military operation” to defend Donbas region after the People’s Republics of Luhansk and Donetsk turned to Russia with a request for help.
