Damascus, SANA- Prime Minister, Hussein Arnous, discussed Monday with the delegation of the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD) prospects of promoting relations and activating the organization’s office in Damascus.
The delegation comprises Director General of AOAD, Ibrahim al-Dukhairi, and AOAD Executive Chairman, the Lebanese Minister of Agriculture, Abbas Hajj Hassan.
The talks dealt with ways to enhance and develop cooperation between Syria and the concerned Arab organizations to support the agricultural sector, the joint work to tackle climate change along with the drop in the groundwater level.
Developing the work of the Arab Technical Institute for Agriculture and Fisheries, in addition to expanding the role of the organization, through its participation in implementing agricultural development projects of all kinds along with mobilizing Arab capabilities to enhance Arab food security were also among the topics discussed.
Arnous attached great importance to the integration among the concerned government agencies in the Arab states and the Arab development organizations, along with harmonizing the efforts.
He noted that Syria was one of the first Arab countries to contribute effectively to the establishment of any organization supporting the joint Arab action.
al- Dukhairi, for his part, stressed that the organization constitutes one of the pillars of joint Arab action in the agricultural field, and it is ready to cooperate with the Syrian side and establish joint projects in the field of agricultural and rural development and the conservation of agricultural resources.
