Damascus, SANA- The Syrian Chamber of Shipping has regained its membership at Arab Federation of Chamber of Shipping (AFCS) after its membership had been suspended over the past years due to the unjust Western economic sanctions that prevented paying the financial obligations.
‘The Chamber had recently payed the annual membership fees to the Federation, for the years from 2012 to 2014 and also for the year 2015’, Transport Ministry said on its Telegram channel.
The ministry added that Arab Federation decided to cover all previous claims and only paying the annual membership fee for 2015 taking into account the difficult circumstances facing Syria, as the economic sanctions hindered the bank transfer at that time ,and that to keep the membership of the Syrian chamber at the federation due to its active role.
The ministry underlined the need for the chamber to be present in the Arab arena, within the framework of joint Arab work and the exchange of experiences, in coincides with resuming Syria’s participation in the meetings of Arab League.
