Damascus, SANA- Minister of Information, Butrus Hallaq, discussed with the new representative of the United Nations Population Fund, Muriel Mafico, aspects of joint cooperation between the ministry and the fund and the program of projects for the ministry’s work proposed for cooperation during the years 2024-2025.
Minister Hallaq said that the cooperation plan includes producing a number of documentary films and radio programs to increase awareness about reproductive health, the health system, domestic violence, and empowering women socially and psychologically, in addition to training media professionals and enhancing their professional capabilities.
Hallaq pointed out the importance of developing the cooperation program between the Ministry and the Fund in a way that serves the basic general directions of both sides, particularly with regard to the Ministry’s future plans for the next two years.
For her part, Mafiko expressed her readiness to fully cooperate with the Ministry of Information to implement the 2024 plan and any suggestions that are consistent with this plan and its objectives, calling on the Ministry to cover the “16-day campaign to combat gender-based violence,” which is being held in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Affairs, and its closing ceremony will be held on The 10th of next month.
Mafiko pointed out the need to pay attention to the activities that will coincide with the 30th anniversary of the International Conference on Population and Development, which will be hold next year.
