Syria demands an end to politicization of humanitarian work

New York, SANA- Acting Chargé affairs of the Permanent delegation of Syria to the United Nations, Al-Hakam Dandi, said Thursday that Security Council’s condemnation of violations of Syria’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity by the illegal military presence and the escalation of Israeli attacks represent a legal responsibility and a humanitarian necessity.

Dandi, at UN Security Council session on the political and humanitarian situation in Syria, added that the West continues to impose illegal economic measures on Syria that deprive its people of food, medical care, electricity, housing and necessary services.

“The United States is going ahead in its destructive policies by insisting on its illegal military presence on Syrian territory, supporting terrorist organizations and separatist militias and looting resources of the Syrian people,” Dandi said.

“We are keen on delivering humanitarian aid to those who are in need all over the world, and we are surprised that some teams of the UN are contacting with terrorist organizations included in the lists of the Security Council and we stress the need to stop this immediately,” the Syrian diplomat affirmed.

He added that Syria demands an end to the politicization of humanitarian work and an end to linking projects of early recovery and financing them with political preconditions, and the removal of unilateral coercive measures imposed on the country.

Dandi referred to some Western countries that are engaged and partners in the crimes of genocide committed by the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people in Gaza Strip and in its repeated attacks on civilian infrastructure in Syria and Lebanon.
