Damascus, SANA- Ways to enhance educational cooperation between Syria and Russia was the main points of discussion during a meeting on Monday that brought together Minister of Education Mohammad Amer al-Mardini and President of the Christian World Union Organization Alexey Cherkizov along with the accompanying delegation.
Minister al-Mardini talked about the strong Syrian-Russian relations, especially in the educational field, stressing the importance of teaching the Russian language and spreading it at schools.
For his part, Cherkizov expressed the organization’s readiness to support and follow up on initiatives that benefit both sides, especially in the field of competitions held for Syrian students in the Russian language to encourage them to study it, besides postgraduate studies in the Russian language that are being offered to Russian language teachers and organizing visits for them to Russia.
The Christian World Union Organization and Ministry Education granted on Tuesday 87 diplomas and 17 certificates for completion of a 3-month course for Russian language teachers, in addition to honoring 27 students who gained the first place at Russian Language Olympics and festival competition for years 2022-2023.
