New York, SANA- Iran’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Amir Saeid Iravani stressed that the repeated Israeli attacks on Syrian territory have reached an unprecedented level of criminality, clearly violating Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity as well as international law.

“The Israeli entity, in coordination with terrorist groups, is pursuing a systematic and targeted policy in its attacks to try to paralyze the infrastructure in Syria,” IRNA news agency quoted Iravani as saying in a speech during a UN Security Council session on the situation in the Middle East and Syria.

“The continued airstrikes and aggressive actions of this entity on Syria have reached an unprecedented level, targeting civilians and vital infrastructure. These criminal acts clearly violate Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, international law and the UN Charter,” Iravani added.

“The United States and its allies persist in their failed policy of inhumane, unilateral sanctions, using them as a tool for the collective punishment of the Syrian people. These actions are both illegal and morally indefensible and must be lifted immediately”, Iravani said.

Meanwhile, the United States and certain European countries, such as the United Kingdom, are politicizing humanitarian aid and obstructing international efforts to support Syria’s reconstruction, he noted.

Furthermore, Israel’s relentless strikes on border crossings between Syria and Lebanon have disrupted critical aid deliveries and forced hundreds of thousands to flee, he stated.

The Iranian representative stressed the need to end the illegal presence of foreign forces, particularly the US forces, halt the exploitation of Syria’s natural resources, and cease ongoing support by the U.S. and Israel for terrorist groups.
