Israeli Army Detains Two, Continues Quneitra Incursions

Israeli army forces detained two people during incursions in rural Quneitra (southwestern Syria) at dawn on Wednesday, May 20

Enab Baladi’s correspondent in Quneitra reported that an Israeli army patrol entered al-Basali farm in southern rural Quneitra, where it searched several homes and detained Ali al-Awda, a young man from the area.

At the same time, another force entered Umm al-Luqas farm and detained Ali Ahmad al-Ahmad, also a young man from the area.

An Israeli army patrol also entered the quarries area in northern rural Quneitra and searched several facilities.

The Quneitra Media Directorate said an Israeli patrol entered al-Basali farm and Umm al-Luqas farm in rural Quneitra, searched several homes, and detained two young men.

On Tuesday, May 19, Israeli warplanes flew over the area in the morning and evening, while artillery shells were fired toward agricultural land around Taranja in northern rural Quneitra. Military patrols also entered Rafid and carried out searches, according to Enab Baladi’s correspondent.

Previous Military Escalation

Rural Quneitra witnessed a new escalation on May 14, involving artillery shelling, military movements, and the detention of civilians in several villages, Enab Baladi’s correspondent in Quneitra reported at the time.

The Israeli army fired several artillery shells at the area around Hamidiyah town in central rural Quneitra, causing tension in the area, with no casualties reported.

The artillery shelling also reached agricultural land around al-Hurriya, Jubata al-Khashab, and Hamidiyah town, in rural Quneitra.

In the same context, Enab Baladi’s correspondent reported that a patrol affiliated with the Israeli army carried out an incursion into Sida Golan, including a search campaign of several homes that resulted in the detention of one person from the village.

Also in the same context, a force affiliated with the Israeli army entered Kudna in southern rural Quneitra.

It searched several homes inside the town before withdrawing from the area after detaining a young man, who was released hours later, according to the Quneitra Media Directorate.
