Israeli army forces arrested a young man from Syria’s Quneitra governorate (southwestern Syria) during a raid and search operation at Umm al-Luqs farm in the southern countryside of the governorate after midnight.

Enab Baladi’s correspondent in Quneitra reported today, June 9, that an Israeli army patrol stormed Umm al-Luqs farm and arrested a young man from the area who works in agriculture, while carrying out a raid and search operation.

An Israeli army patrol made up of three military vehicles also advanced on Monday, June 8, into the western side of Rafid town in southern rural Quneitra, alongside the barbed wire of the ceasefire line with the occupied Golan. The patrol installed barbed wire outside the strip near the ceasefire line, according to the correspondent.

He also said the Israeli army beat four minor children in the area west of Rafid in southern rural Quneitra while they were grazing sheep, and confiscated their mobile phones while they were there.

These actions come as part of a policy of restricting freedoms and preventing any citizen from approaching or filming areas where the Israeli army is present. Beatings have repeatedly targeted several people in different areas of the governorate, under the pretext that they were filming army movements.

On the same day, an Israeli army patrol advanced into the al-Ajraf area and searched passersby after setting up a temporary checkpoint on the main road in the area.

The Quneitra Media Directorate said heavy gunfire was heard from the military base in western Tal al-Ahmar toward eastern Tal al-Ahmar in southern rural Quneitra, with no information reported about injuries or damage.

Five People Arrested

Israeli forces arrested five people on June 7 during two separate incursions in northern and southern rural Quneitra, according to Enab Baladi’s correspondent in Quneitra.

The correspondent said at the time that an Israeli force advanced into Jubata al-Khashab in northern rural Quneitra and searched several homes before arresting Abdul Rahman Rahhal, Nabil Mohammad Ghanem, and the minors Ahmad Mohammad Ghanem and Yahya Mohammad Ghanem.

According to information obtained by the correspondent, Israeli forces took the detainees to Jubata al-Khashab military base.

Later, the correspondent reported that Israeli forces released the four young men after several hours of detention and questioning.

In a separate operation, Israeli occupation forces arrested 17-year-old Issa Abdullah al-Shanyour during an incursion into the Sida al-Hanout farm area in southern rural Quneitra.

Intensive Search Operations

Several areas in Quneitra governorate witnessed multiple movements by Israeli army forces on June 6, covering more than one area in the governorate’s southern and northern countryside.

Enab Baladi’s correspondent reported that an Israeli patrol made up of four vehicles entered Abu Midhraah farm southwest of the governorate and searched several homes in the village.

The correspondent added that another patrol, consisting of four military vehicles, advanced into Asha village in southern rural Quneitra, in an area adjacent to the barbed wire separating the occupied Golan from the buffer zone.

According to the correspondent, the incursion was accompanied by searches of several homes inside the village.

The correspondent said residents of the village refused relief aid offered to them by Israeli forces before they withdrew from the area.

Northern rural Quneitra was not spared from Israeli movements, as a military patrol moved toward the quarries and Jubata al-Khashab, searched several people, and set up a temporary inspection checkpoint on the main road in the area.

Southern Syria, especially Quneitra city, has been witnessing daily incursions by the Israeli army, accompanied by arrest campaigns and inspection checkpoints, as well as incursions in rural Daraa.
