Syrian moderate rebels took 15 hilltops and checkpoints from ISIS in the Syrian desert east of Damascus in the past two days, commander told Zaman al-Wasl Tuesday.
Jaish Asoud al-Sharqiya, or the Army of East Lions, mostly tribesmen, has captured Tel Dakwah on Tuesday after taking vast swaths from ISIS in a week of heavy battles in Badiyet al-Sham, or al-Hamad, Younes al-Salameh said.
Last week, Asoud al-Shariqiya and Liwa' Shuhada' al-Qaryatian have expelled ISIS from Bir al-Afaei hilltops in the eastern Qalamoun, al-Salameh added.
Rebels have also taken the ISIS checkpoints in Sabe' Biar, Makhoul, Telol Salman, or Salman Hills, Tel Asfar, Zaza, Sais, Sad al-Rysha and hilltops in Batra mountain near the Jordanian border.
Salameh accused regime army of backing ISIS as its warplanes keep targeting rebels in the ongoing battles
