An ISIS affiliated group launched surprise attack on moderate rebels in Southern Daraa province in retaliation to death of its commander in US-led coalition airstrike, rebel spokesman said on Saturday.
Jaysh Khaled Ibn al-Walid, which pledged allegiance to the Islamic State three years ago, has attacked rebels bastion in the western countryside of Daraa.
Abu mahmoud al-Horani, spokesman for Horan Freemen rally, said the resistance factions have thwarted the attack near Yarmouk basin.
Horani said the the assault of ISIS affiliated group came in response to death the leader of Khaled Ibn al-Walid army in a US-led coalition airstrikes on Thursday.
