Mikdad meets Ardzinba: Syria and Abkhazia to boost cooperation in all domains

Damascus, SANA- Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Fayssal Mikdad, discussed with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia, Inal Ardzinba and an accompanying delegation means of enhancing cooperation and coordination between the two friendly countries in all fields.

Minister Ardzinba affirmed his country’s condemnation of the repeated Israeli attacks on Syrian territory, saying that this is unacceptable and a flagrant violation of international law.

He reiterated his country’s support for Syria in the war on terrorism, and in the face of the economic repercussions of the unilateral coercive measures imposed on the Syrian people by Western countries.

He also stressed his country’s condemnation of the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza and the Israeli attacks committed against the Palestinians, calling for an immediate stop to these massacres.

For his part, Minister Mikdad welcomed Abkhaz delegation, stressing the need to make more efforts to raise bilateral relations to the required level for the common interest of the two friendly countries and peoples.

On the situation in the region, Mikdad referred to the dangerous effects resulting from the Israeli entity’s continued attacks on Syrian sovereignty, in addition to the continuing suffering of the Syrian people as a result of the American and Turkish occupation of Syrian lands.

Mikdad reiterated Syria’s condemnation of the massacres carried out by the racist Zionist entity against citizens in occupied Palestine, stressing the need to strengthen joint international action to put an end to these brutal crimes that the world has never seen before.

He clarified that the recent developments in the region have uncovered western governments, revealed their truth to their people, and demonstrated the falsity of their claims to respect international humanitarian law.

Mikdad also condemned the United States’ use of veto against a draft resolution at the Security Council calling for an end to the massacre committed by Israeli fascism against the children and women of Palestine.

The two sides renewed their support for the special military operation carried out by the Russian Federation in Ukraine to eliminate neo-Nazism and put an end to the increasing interventions of the West in other countries to achieve their own interests.

“During the meeting, several issues were discussed, especially in relation to developments in Ukraine and the Western insistence on supplying it with various types of weapons, which complicated the possibility of reaching a solution to this crisis,” Mikdad said in a press statement following the meeting.

In turn, Ardzinba affirmed his country’s full support for Syria and its stances, pointing out that the events taking place in Gaza Strip and Ukraine are the result of the West’s attempt to impose its hegemony over international resolutions.

“The West’s destructive policy seeks to open a second front in the Caucasus region,” Ardzinba said.
