The 2nd meeting of national coordinators of Group of Friends in Defense the UN Charter kicks in Venezuela.

Caracas, SANA- The 2nd Meeting of National Coordinators of the Group of Friends in Defense of the United Nations Charter began on Monday in Caracas, with the participation of Syria, represented by National Coordinator of the Group, Ambassador Qusay al-Dahhak, UN Permanent Representative, and Syrian Ambassador to Venezuela, Kinan Zahreddine.

In the opening speech, Venezuelan Foreign Minister, Yván Eduardo Gil Pinto underlined the importance of the group in defending the UN Charter and its principles of sovereignty, equality among states, and non-interference in the countries’ internal affairs.

He slammed the US policies of imposing illegitimate coercive measures on countries, underscoring the necessity of strengthening the group’s work to address the challenges facing the countries.

In turn, Ambassador al-Dahhak stressed Syria’s solidarity with Venezuela and other countries of the group in confronting the Western pressure and unilateral coercive measures.

Al-Dahhak underlined the importance of the meeting, which is held at a time the world is witnessing great challenges and serious violations of international law.

He also noted to the challenges facing Syria due to the aggressive Western acts and illegitimate US and Turkish military presence on Syrian territory, calling the group’s states to support Syria’s efforts to improve humanitarian and living conditions and work to achieve sustainable development goals.
