Minister of Education:We will not modify curricula

Damascus, SANA- Minister of Education Nazir Al-Qadri confirmed that no modifications will be made to the curricula at present because students are halfway through the academic year.

Speaking in a statement on the ministry’s Facebook page, Minister Al-Qadri said:“things will remain as they are and we only removed some paragraphs and phrase that will be approved by specialized committees.”

“Our problem is not the internationally approved and known Syrian curriculum, which has graduated hundreds of specialists in all fields, but the introduction of ideas and principles of the defunct regime and the falsification of existing facts, so it will be decided later on the type and amount of necessary modifications,” the minister clarified.

He added that the main mission was to support the Syrian people and achieve their ambitions in all fields, especially in the educational field therefore, we will focus on improving the moral and material reality of teachers who continued to perform their duties.

He revealed that 350,000 teachers continue to perform their professional duties in all governorates, and they are the foundation on which we rely to build Syria’s bright future.

Minister Al-Qadri stated that the Ministry was working on developing an action plan to rehabilitate and restore destroyed schools in cooperation with various institutions and organizations.

9,500 schools were partially or completely destroyed and, accordingly, priorities will be set to reduce the density of students inside classrooms and allow students to return to schools close to their places of residence, he said.

The Minister stressed the continuation of providing the educational and humanitarian duty towards 4.7million students in all governorates, indicating that everything necessary will be provided for the return of the dropped out students, and the continuation of the educational process in conjunction with overcoming the suffering and circumstances related to displacement, migration and poverty imposed by the former regime.
